Description

Description

This standard external connector (EC) license supports instant messaging, presence, and PC-to-PC audio and video communications capabilities for any number of external users or devices accessing a single installation of Lync Server 2010 or Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

Additional licenses are required for audio, video, and web conferencing, application sharing, and enterprise telephony capabilities.
•    An enterprise EC license provides all but voice telephony features when used with Lync Server 2010; voice telephony features require a plus EC license. To enable all features, all three EC licenses (standard, enterprise, and plus) are needed
•    An enterprise EC license provides all these capabilities when used with Office Communications Server 2007 R2. To enable all features, both standard and enterprise EC licenses are needed.

Generally, an external user is defined as anyone who is not an employee of the organization. For example, external users can include clients, suppliers, and alumni of the organization. External users do not include independent contractors, agents, service providers, or other persons providing services to or on behalf of the organization holding the license.

The EC license may not be used as a means of reselling or repackaging Lync Server 2010 or Office Communications Server 2007 R2 as a hosted service.

Device CALs and user CALs are also available for internal use. A device CAL authorizes one computer to access the server, regardless of the number of users. A user CAL authorizes one user to access the server on any number of devices.

License Only: This license does not require media, license keys, or setup codes.

Software Assurance: Under the Software Assurance program, you have the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of your coverage.
